Farewell Bluebird

After only 8 months (or so) of driving a nice powerful turbo’d Bluebird (import, so turbo was stock- did do some modifications to it though), I decided I’d had enough and sold it. Main reason is was that the waste gate on the turbo was sticking open, so all the compression was bleeding straight out, and an estimated cost to fix was $1600 – or higher :(

So, sold it to a couple of Box Hill-ians who knew jack all about cars, and were happy that it had mags, a sub, and a blowoff valve. They called on on Thurs, came to see it on Friday, bought it in cash today (Sunday). Because of the rapidity of the sale, no time to organise a RWC…they didn’t even care! Poor bastards. Still, it got me this, so I’m happy.

In any case, looking for some form of 4 door cab with tub (go Hilux) to act as my mode of transport, and of course a dirtbike to go on the back.

In the meantime, driving an Astra…sigh

Tracy’s 22nd

Tracy turned 22 on Thursday (25th), so last night (Sat 27th) a bunch of us rocked up at hers to help her celebrate.
After a couple of drinks, Devin (Husband of the birthday girl) and I decided could help the celebrations by fighting…repeatedly.

After breaking BBQ implements, (almost) a sliding door and some glasses that were a Wedding gift (but apparently were chipped already so it was alright), we decided our job was well done. Katie’s mother especially seemed impressed.

Passing out face down on top of the stairs in the renowned sloth position, Flurry (the dog) woke me by walking on my head. Awesome.

Camping

Last weekend (20/21st September), when most of Victoria had Uni holidays (damn you Monash), a bunch of mates went camping up near Alexandria. They all drove up and set up on the Friday, while I had to work that night and Saturday morning. Picked up Dave Young around 6 and headed off.

Stopping in Healesville on the drive up to grab Dave some headache drugs, some crazy bitch with a van backed into my mums car (I sold my car), then proceeded to excuse herself from blame by saying ’she’d had a bad day’. Sure, that worked for Hitler too…

One good thing about arriving late…rocking up fully prepared campsite – brilliant! One major difference this time round was the addition of a 6 burner bbq…slightly overboard perhaps, but good nonetheless.

After a couple of drinks, Dave decided he and I had to fight…He still can’t recall me choking him till he passed out :D

Browsing YouTube at work I stumbled across a video my brother had made for my 21st, while he was off in Germany. It’s a brief, amusing and rather accurate portrayal of my year in Europa.

Congo > Australia

The Democratic Republic of Congo’s deputy justice minister has ordered a Kinshasa jail to release a dozen goats that were due to appear on charges of being sold illegally. The minister said police had serious gaps in their knowledge and would be sent for retraining.

Man, wish some of that weird stuff would happen around here. Austrians have Basement-Family, Congo-ans (Congans?) get to arrest goats, what do we have?

Our cops get hummers (not that kind) to help prevent violence on city streets. Not sure how an over sized, over priced ‘brick’ of a car will help…perhaps the other kind of hummer would work better.

Odd…

Police in California arrested a man for breaking into two farmworkers’ home and stealing money before rubbing one man with spices and hitting the other with a sausage. The man was later found in a field in a T-shirt, boxer shorts and socks. The money was recovered but a dog had eaten the sausage.

I’m outraged. My mugging in California was lackluster in comparison – I received no spices or beating at all, sausage or otherwise. I want my money back!
